Yet she goes uncredited
Chronology
Follow Catherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary filmmaker whose work is built around exposing the wrongdoings of long-respected institutions. The exceptionally talented Russian Blue cat in the Ravenscroft house improvises all of her actions and dialogue. In several episodes, Jonathon uses the same lens throughout the series, a medium-telephoto lens.
Such a lens wouldn’t be able to focus on close-up subjects, like selfies with Sasha or the bedroom with Catherine
Dang! I had no idea what I was in for when I started watching this AppleTV+ limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. "Disclaimer" is based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight and was written for the screen and directed by Alfonso Cuarón.
At its core, this is a revenge story
Blanchett plays Catherine, a journalist whose past secrets come to light in an alarming way, forcing her to confront her past as it destroys her entire life. This was a masterfully told story that took us on a fascinating journey of discovery as the audience is shown (sometimes vividly) the „events“ of Catherine’s past. Blanchett, as always, is fantastic here, and Kline also gives a solid performance.
Note: There are some pretty graphic depictions of sex/intimacy in various episodes
It was surprising to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he did it justice. Despite a couple of minor quibbles, I recommend this series if you like character dramas with added suspense/intrigue. This is not a fast-paced show, and it took me about half an episode (around 30 minutes) to finally get „hooked“ on the story.
Video review coming soon
But boy, am I glad I stuck around.
